Anime Male Tsundere Tournament Finals

So I've been doing yet another anime tournament with male tsundere for the past few months. It is setup like a bracket system and characters from My Story are in here as well. It's already December 2020 and, wow this crazy year went by so fast! We're down to our two finalists, Syaoran Li vs Taro Hachuu! Below is the bracket. Sorry if the words are small and blurry!

Characters

Syaoran Li (Cardcaptor Sakura)

Syaoran is a distant relative of Clow Reed and member of the Li clan sorcerers from Hong Kong, he first appears as a rival of Sakura intending to collect the Clow Cards. While cold, emotionless, and critical at first, Syaoran warms up to Sakura's sweetness, soft-feelings and kind heart and shows his sweet soft side and falls in love with Sakura. While initially confused about her feelings, Sakura realizes she truly loves Syaoran in return.

VS

Taro Hachuu (My Story)

Taro initially is bad-tempered, feisty, and competitive particularly with his childhood friend Nina Moriko. While Taro and Nina argue a lot at first, the two develop strong feelings for each other, despite many obstacles. Taro has suffered the loss of his father while Nina has suffered the loss of both parents and both realize how much they need each other and no longer sad, lonely, or depressed, and are happy and stronger by each other's side.

The Winner

And the winner is...

Taro Hachuu

Taro is the definition of what a male tsundere is. This was a very difficult choice as I could see either Syaoran Li or Taro Hachuu being the victor. While Taro can be short-tempered and fiesty at first he shows kindness as he grows and matures. Taro and Nina initially argue a lot but show romantic feelings for each other. They bond over feelings of grief and sadness but also happiness and joy. Taro and Nina realize they both need each other and are happier and stronger together.

Final Overview
If you have someone who you think should be an honorable mention, please comment! Also, read Rounds 1, 2, and 3 if you haven't already. I will be getting to more of My Story.

Tenki no Ko (Weathering With You) Review

I finally got the chance to watch Tenki no Ko also known as Weathering With You so I will now review it. Weathering With You is a 112 minute, romance, drama, slice of life, fantasy anime film released in 2019 from CoMix Wave Films, Inc and directed by the great Makoto Shinkai. If he sounds familiar he's also known for directing other fantastic anime films like Voice of a Distant Star, The Place Promised in Our Early Days, 5 Centimetres Per Second, Children Who Chase Lost Voices, and Your Name. With Your Name being the highest grossing anime film. So I was pretty hyped for Weathering With You. Lets just say I was not disappointed with it.

Summary
Tokyo is experiencing rain showers that seem to disrupt the usual pace of everyone living there. Amidst this seemingly eternal downpour arrives Hodaka Morishima, a runaway high school student who struggles to support himself financially-ending up with a job at a small-time publisher. Meanwhile, the orphaned Hina Amano also strives to find work to support herself and her younger brother, Nagi.
Both fates intertwine when Hodaka attempts to rescue Hina from shady men, deciding to run away together. Subsequently, Hodaka discovers that Hina has a strange yet astounding power: the ability to call out the sun whenever she prays for it. With Tokyo's unusual weather in mind, Hodaka sees the potential of this ability. He suggests that hina should become a "sunshine gir"-someone who will clear the sky for people when they need it the most.
Things start looking up for them at first. However, it is a common knowledge that power always comes a hefty price...

My Thoughts
As you could tell I loved Weathering with You and thought it lived up to its hype. While it may look like a rip-off or copy of Your Name that is far from the truth. Besides there's no such thing as an original idea nowadays. It is yet another masterpiece from Makoto Shinkai. Being a 2019 anime the animation was terrific. This is probably the most I've enjoyed watching an anime movie from beginning to end. The story and plot is nothing but outstanding. It was executed and carried out extremely well. Now for where I disagree with most people. Most people say this is not as tearjerking or emotional as Your Name but I got the same amount of emotions out of Weathering With You as I did with Your Name. While I wouldn't say this is as emotional or tearjerking as Full Moon wo Sagashite, Kobato, Your Lie in April, or Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noburo Sora, it definitely has its feels. As you know the two things I look for in an anime are the romance and ending and I wasn't disappointed with either. The relationship between our two main characters Hina and Hodaka progresses and they become stronger together the more they spend time together. It goes to the point Hodaka goes out of his way for Hina. Because I didn't give a spoiler alert I will just say I liked the ending.

I also think I've found the perfect song for this film which is "Between the Raindrops" by Lifehouse. It is about having a relationship despite the chaos around and going through the good and bad things. Unsure of what to expect next you just have to experience life and go for it and hope for the best. To me it's kind of like being in the eye of a hurricane or this case a sunny spot in a rainstorm. The chorus describe the movie almost perfectly,

"Walking between the raindrops, Riding the aftershock beside you, Off into the sunset, Living like there's nothing left to lose, Chasing after gold mines, crossing the fine lines we knew, Hold and take a breath, I'll be here every step, Walking between the raindrops with you."

My Conclusion
I would give Weathering With You 5/5 stars or a 10/10 score. I thought it was just amazing. I would highly recommend Weathering With You if you enjoyed Makoto Shinkai's other movies like Voice of a Distant StarThe Place Promised in Our Early Days5 Centimetres Per SecondChildren Who Chase Lost Voices, and Your Name and I think you'll love Weathering With You as well. I can't wait for Makoto Shinkai's next movie.

Anime Female Tsundere Tournament Finals

So you probably know that I've been doing another anime characters with female tsunderes. As usual it is a bracket system like in sports. Please check out Rounds 1, 2, & 3 if you haven't already. And what do you know it we're down to our two finalists, Nina Moriko vs Shana! Below is the bracket. Sorry if the words are small and blurry.

Characters
Nina Moriko (My Story)
A tsundere from My Story. Nina and Taro are childhood friends. While she is spunky, competitive and argues with Taro a lot at first she becomes more loving warm-hearted and caring as she matures. Nina and Taro develop strong feelings for each other, despite the obstacles they face. Also, Taro has suffered the loss of his father while Nina has suffered the loss of both parents and both realize how much they need each other and no longer sad, lonely, or depressed, and are happy and stronger by each other's side. It was a close rounds but Nina wins over Stella Vermillion.

VS

Shana (Shakugan no Shana)
Probably one of the most lovable tsunderes. While initially cold and feisty towards Yuji she develops feelings for him and shows how much she cares about him. Shana makes one of the biggest changes in any character I've seen going from cold, cruel, and angry to being warm, kind, and caring. Shana takes it from Taiga Aisaka as she seems to change more as a character from beginning to end as her feelings towards Yuji grow stronger.

The Winner
And the Winner is...

Nina Moriko

Nina's is everything that a tsundere should be while initially spunky, fiesty, and competitive, she becomes more warm, loving and kind particularly towards her childhood friend, Taro Hachuu. Nina and Taro bond over feelings of grief and sadness, but also hope and joy. They realize that they are happier and stronger together. While all our female tsunderes are similar to this, Nina is what an idolized tsundere is which is why she is the victor of this tournament.

Final Overview
If there is someone you think should be an honorable mention, please comment! Read Rounds 1, 2, & 3 if you haven't already! I will likely post another review, then do another tournament with male tsunderes next, and get to posting My Story.

Anime Female Tsundere Tournament Semifinals

If you've been following me I started yet another anime characters tournament this time with female tsunderes and we are already in the third round. This is done in a bracket system as usual and characters from My Story are in here. Please read Rounds 1 & 2 if you haven't already. Here is the bracket.

Nina wins over Louise de la Valliere as she's a bit more lovable and shows more kindness than Louise.

VS

Stella Vermillion (Chivalry of a Failed Knight/Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry)
One of my favorite tsunderes, though she's a neo-tsundere who changes a bit faster. While fiesty and hot-tempered at first she becomes kind and caring. While not thrilled about sharing a room with Ikki Kurogane at first she grows closer to him and the two develop feelings for each other. She pushes Ikki to become stronger and fulfill his desire and wish.

Taiga Aisaka (Toradora)
One of the most well-known tsundere, Taiga Aisaka earns the nickname "Palm-Top Tiger" for her small stature yet fierce hot-tempered personality. However, she shows to be a kind and loyal person. While she initally had a crush on Yusaku Kitamura she develops feelings for Ryuji Takasu. Madoka Ayukawa could've easily taken this one but Taiga is more recognized as a tsundere which is why she takes this round.

VS

Shana (Shakugan no Shana
Probably one of the most lovable tsunderes. While initially cold and feisty towards Yuji she develops feelings for him and shows how much she cares about him. Shana makes one of the biggest changes in any character I've seen going from cold, cruel, and angry to being warm, kind, and caring. Shana and Victorique de Blois are both almost equally lovable but Shana seems to be more recognized as a tsundere which is why she wins.

Overview
Feel free to leave a comment if there's someone who you think should be an honorable mention! Check out Rounds 1 & 2 if you haven't yet. Check back soon to see the results and I will get to posting a tournament with male tsunderes and My Story as well.

Anime Female Tsundere Tournament Quarterfinals

As you may know I started another anime characters tournament last week, this time with tsunderes. Characters from My Story are included and it is being done with a bracket system as usual. Please read Round 1 if you haven't already. Below is the bracket. Sorry if the words are small and blurry!

Nina changes more and becomes a more likable character which is why she wins over Chitoge Kirisaki.

VS

Louise de la Valliere (The Familiar of Zero/Zero no Tsukaima)
Louise Francoise Le Blanc de La Valliere is a second year student at the Tristain Academy of Magic and a terrible mage. She is the third daughter of the noble la Valliere family. While it takes her a while to admit it, she falls in love with Saito Hirage, the familiar she summons.

Haruhi Suzumiya (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya/Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu)
Haruhi Suzumiya can be funny, eccentric, and even unpredictable. She is interested in aliens, time travel, and does not care for "ordinary" human beings. Haruhi creates a parallel universe to deal with her emotions. She takes an interest in Kyon and gets angry and jealous whenever he talks to other girls.

Madoka Ayukawa (Kimagure Orange Road)
A classic 1980's tsundere her design was inspired by actress Phoebe Cates and Japanese singer Akina Nakamori. She is a smart and talented high achiever with a mature figure but also has a reputation as a young delinquent. Upon meeting Kyosuke she reveals a kind and selfless personality and progresses her relationship with Kyosuke. This was a hard fought battle but Madoka advances because of her nadeshiko ("perfect wife") qualities.

VS

Taiga Aisaka (Toradora)
One of the most well-known tsundere, Taiga Aisaka earns the nickname "Palm-Top Tiger" for her small stature yet fierce hot-tempered personality. However, she shows to be a kind and loyal person. While she initally had a crush on Yusaku Kitamura she develops feelings for Ryuji Takasu. Taiga is by far the more recognizable tsundere so she easily takes it from Asuka Langley.

Shana is also an iconic tsundere like Taiga she wins by a landslide against Chitori Kaname.

VS

Victorique de Blois (Gosick)
Victorique is a 15-year-old student at Saint Marguerite Academy and has the appearance of a doll being very small in size. She is very intelligent and lives her life as an enigma. While initially cold and easily annoyed, she warms up to Kazuya Kujo and cares deeply about him. Victorique and Kujo develop feelings for each other. This was a close battle but Victorique wins by a hair for her kawaii and cutness and becoming more lovable.

Overview
If there is someone who you think should be an honorable mention, please leave a comment! Please read Round 1 if you haven't yet! Check back to see the results. I will probably another tournament with male tsunderes and My Story as well.
