Lamune Review

As you may know in my previous reviews of Gift Eternal Rainbow, Hani Hani: Operation Sanctuary, and Hoshizora E Kakaru Hashi I said I would watch and review Lamune. Well I just got done with it so as usual here's my review! Lamune started as a 2004 visual novel developed by Neko Neko Soft. It then became a 1-volume 2004 light novel written by Okada Runa. Finally, it was adapted into a 12-episode anime series from Trinet Entertainment and Picture Magic. Additionally, there is a 1-volume 2006 manga as well as a another 1-volume 2006 light novel written by Takamitsu Kouno. Lamune is a drama romance slice of life anime. Lamune is an very underrated anime that I believe does not get anywhere near the attention it deserves. I will be talking about the ending so...

**************************!!!!!!!!!!SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!**************************

Summary
Lamune tells the story of a boy named Kenji Tomosaka and his child hood friend Nanami Konoe. While, everyone seems to know that they have a relationship, neither are determined to push it anymore than close friends. The story goes through flashbacks, explaining why they are such close friends and any action doesn't seem to push them apart, but draw them closer.

My Thoughts
I loved Lamune and it is a very underrated anime in my opinion. Like many slice of life anime, it is a very sweet heartwarming story between childhood friends Kenji and Nanami. Kenji is a cool, hardworking man while Nanami is a sweet and innocent. (Man all the guys named Kenji are getting good-looking girls!) Both the main characters are fun and lovable. We also see other characters come out who have mixed but nice personalities. As well as Nanami, Kenji has other girls he is also close to but Nanami clearly stands out above all of them. We also see plenty of flashbacks in this anime to Kenji and Nanami's childhood. Like Gift Eternal Rainbow and Hani Hani: Operation Sanctuary, Lamune can be sad at times and also plays with your emotions as you see the memories and happy times as well as the challenges and struggles the characters go through. It was a very enjoyable anime and it gave me the nice warm feelings that a romance anime should.

Romance and Ending (**********!SPOILER ALERT!**********)
Lamune was more of a relaxing anime but did have romance and was happy, sad, and overall emotional all in one. We see how close Kenji and Nanami as we go through the story. Several times we see that they go out of their way to help the other, showing how much they truly care about each other. Kenji and Nanami have known each other since they were small children and it is clear how close they are to one another. Their relationship takes a hit when Kenji is in a coma after crashing on his motorcycle after the road gives way. Nanami is lost and alone without Kenji but still has hope from her memories with him and continues to visit him in the hospital and stay by his bedside. Finally, Kenji comes out his coma to everyone's relief and is reunited with Nanami. The credits show him checking out of the hospital and in the final scene, Kenji and Nanami are sitting on the beach together. This truly shows how much Kenji and Nanami really love and care for each other and everything they go through only brings them closer together. I mentioned Lamune in my Endings Rant as a good ending and Kenji and Nanami in my 2017 Valentines Day Post as an underrated couple so feel free to ship!

My Conclusion
I would give Lamune 5/5 stars or a 10/10 score. It was a nice, relaxing, very enjoyable slice of life romance anime, but also gives you the warm feelings and emotions that a good romance anime should give you. I would highly recommend Lamune for anyone who's a fan of slice of life or romance anime.
