Magical Girl Couples
Lots of magical girl anime have some type of romance and it's usually the main character girl who ends up with a boyfriend or love interest. It's one of the magical girl tropes but not as common as the other tropes. While some boyfriends are clueless about their girlfriend's activities and find out at the end, others are heavily involved and will come to their girlfriends aid when needed. So magical girls and their boyfriends is another category.
Usagi Tsukino + Mamoru Chiba (Sailor Moon) (Crystal) (Please see Part 1: Best/Popular Couples)
Sakura Kinomoto + Syaoran Li (Cardcaptor Sakura) (Clear Card) (Please see Part 1: Best/Popular Couples)
Ichigo Momomiya + Masaya Aoyama (Tokyo Mew Mew/Mew Mew Power)- Lots of TMM fans pair Ichigo with Kisshu (Quiche) or sometimes with Ryou but I really don't get it and I don't understand why people don't like her with Masaya. Her relationship with Kisshu is more like a stalker than an actual lover while Ryou just messes with her and isn't really interested in her romantically. I believe Ichigo belings with Masaya as they have mutual feelings and make sacrifices for each other. They are an adorable pairing between a clumsy sweet Ichigo and a popular Masaya. I wish there were more love stories between a shy boy and popular girl though cause I'm kind of shy myself and it makes me feel better. If you have a different opinion, that's fine.
Meimi Haneoka + Daiki Asuka/Asuka Jr (Saint Tail)- This is an underrated magical girl romance anime and the love story between Meimi and Asuka is pretty similar to the one between Sakura and Syaoran in Cardcaptor Sakura. Meimi has an alter identity as Saint Tail, a modern-day Robin Hood. Meimi harbors feelings for Asuka, but Asuka doesn't seem to notice because he's trying to catch Saint Tail. Their relationship progresses and no obstacle can stop them. The part I really loved was when Asuka found out Meimi was really Saint Tail, he continued to love her. Overall, they are also a pretty cute couple together.
Momoko Hanasaki + Yosuke Fuuma (Wedding Peach)- A magical girl anime similar to Sailor Moon. At first, Momoko/Wedding Peach is infatuated with Yanagiba Kazuya but shifts her feelings towards Yosuke/Viento. However, while Momoko is a descendant of the Angels, Yosuke is a descendant of the Devils, in a star-crossed lovers relationship. But Momoko and Yosuke prove their love for each other is so strong that they defeat the evil Reine Devila and can continue their relationship. This is a great lesson about the power of love. In the end of the manga, they get married.
Other Wedding Peach Couples- Momoko and Yosuke weren't the only couples in Wedding Peach worth mentioning. Momoko's best friends, Yuri Tanima/Angel Lily and Hinagiku Tamano/Angel Daisy also have a crush on Yanagiba Kazuya. However, Hinagiku shifts her feelings to her childhood friend, Takuro Amano. Yuri and Yanagiba/Limone continue their relationship. In the manga, Yuri and Yanagiba, and Hinagiku and Takuro get married.
Maron Kusakabe + Chiaki Nagoya (Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne/Phantom Thief Jeanne)- Another magical girl anime similar to Saint Tail and if you liked one you'll definitely like the other. Maron is secretly the reincarnation of Jeanne D'Arc to hunt demons. Chiaki knows Maron's secret idenity and he is also secretly Kaitou Sinbad, unknown to Maron. Initiall, Maron doesn't like Chiaki but they fall in love as the series progresses. The manga runs longer than the anime and they get married in the manga.
Luchia Nanami + Kaito Domoto (Mermaid Melody)- A magical girl girl anime loosely inspired by the original The Littler Mermaid story. I absolutely loved Mermaid Melody and it's couples which is why I gave it 5 stars. By far the OTP of the show are Luchia and Kaito. Kaito loves both the human Luchia and mermaid princess Luchia but doesn't know they are the same person in the first season despite the obvious signs. During the series Luchia and Kaito fall in love and realize their feelings for each other. They even kiss like 11 times in the anime, the most of any anime I've watched (excluding ecchi and fanservice). IDK I lost count! Plus Mermaid Melody had a nice happy ending and I really hope they will get married!
Other Mermaid Melody Couples- Luchia and Kaito aren't the only ones who fall in love, there are other Mermaid Melody couples I must mention as well. Hanon Hosho likes a much older music teacher, Taro Mitsuki in the first season but in the second season a younger boy, Nagisa Shirai, falls for her. It seems one-sided at first, but Hanon develops feelings for Nagisa in return and treats him better as more than a friend. In the second season, Rina Toin falls in love with Masahiro Hamasaki and they promise to love each other forever. Even Hippo finds love, with Yuri while he is in his human form. Luchia and Kaito are guaranteed a happy ending, but we are unsure about Hanon and Rina's romances, but hope for the best.
Yuuma Kohinata + Haruhi Kamisaka (Happiness!)- A underrated magical romance anime. Yuuma and Haruhi don't get anywhere near the attention they deserve. From the beginning, it was clear that they had feelings for each other. Yuuma and Haruhi share lots of moments throughout the anime and the kiss in the end to show they're an official couple. They are so cute and romantic together and they deeply care about each other. Yuuma and Haruhi are supportive of each other and help each other out in many ways. Yuuma and Haruhi are such an underrated couple, so please ship them!
Sumomo Akihime + Masaharu Tsuwabuki (Nanatsuiro Drops)- Another underrated magical girl romance anime that combines Cardcaptor Sakura, Kobato, Happiness, and Princess Tutu. I honestly didn't have anything bad to say about this anime and this is what I'd call a perfect anime. Masaharu accidentally drinks a potion and becomes a stuffed lamb at night. Sumomo is there to help him out but she cannot know his true identity or he will become a stuffed lamb forever. Sumomo and Masaharu spend more time together and fall in love. However, Masaharu will eventually lose his memories but he promises to continue loving Sumomo as they kiss. This was a fantastic ending as explained in my Endings Rant. Masaharu fulfills his promise and continues to love Sumomo. Nanatsuiro Drops has a strong romance theme. There will be moments of pain and sadness, but Sumomo and Masaharu prove their love for each other is so strong they can overcome anything together and they will stay together even if one's life falls apart because they will always have each other. It's a lesson I will never get tired of watching. Sumomo and Masaharu are an adorable underrated couple and show how far they will go for one another. So please ship them!

Underrated Couples
There's lots of couples that I think are underrated and should get more attention. There's more that I could list and that would still be too short, so I'm going to have to limit it to this.

Kohei Hasekura + Erika Sendo (Fortune Arterial)- Fortune Arterial has some mixed reviews. I know a lot of people didn't like it but I actually of enjoyed it. Kohei and Erika share romantic feelings for each other. While it's kind of not clear I decided Kohei and Erika are an official couple. Okay, I admit, it's because Kohei likes like me and Erika is such a beautiful girl I wish I could be my girlfriend/wife. While I wish it was longer, I was satisfied by this anime.
Kyosuke Kasuga + Madoka Ayukawa (Kimagure Orange Road)- This is a classic 1980s romantic comedy that I love and is a hidden gem as far as classic anime goes. I even liked it more than Maison Ikkoku. There is an interesting love triangle concept with two best friends, Madoka and Hikaru both have feelings for Kyosuke. Kyosuke also has supernatural powers too! Kyosuke and Madoka progress their relationship throughout the series but still remain friends with Hikaru. The final movie Summer's Beginning seals the deal for Kyosuke and Madoka.
Hayato Kazami + Asuka Sugo (Future Cyber Formula GPX) (Please see Part 1: Best Romance in Non-Romance Anime)
Yuuto Ayase + Haruka Nogizaka (Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu/Haruka Nogizaka's Secret)- Haruka is intelligent and wealthy. She is the most popular, idolized, and considered the most unattainable girl in school. Yuuto is an ordinary boy who discovers that Haruka's a secret otaku and also has the oktatu passion as well. Yuuto and Haruka develop feelings for each other and care deeply about one another. They progress their relationship despite the obstacles.
Mikoto Urabe + Akira Tsubaki (Nazo no Kanojo X/Mysterious Girlfriend X)- I reviewed this anime about three years ago. Even though it is kind of weird it is actually a really good anime, once you get over the unusual factors, plus it had a good ending. Urabe and Tsubaki exchange drool but you have to think of it as them kissing, which is what I did, and once you get over they're actually pretty cute and romantic. Urabe and Tsubaki have strong feelings for each other and I did get the same warm fuzzy feelings that any other good romance anime should give you so I actually really like these two as a couple.
Junichi Asakura + Nemu Asakura (Da Capo)- While not the absolute greatest, Da Capo is an underrated romance harem anime that deserves more attention. Every love interest could fit with our main character, Junichi in some way but Nemu ended up with him at the end. While I normally don't like incest relationships, I will make exceptions as Nemu is adopted and not blood-related to Junichi. Plus Japan's marriage laws are much less strict than the United States. For them it would be considered kind of normal. Junichi and Namu have feelings for each other and care deeply for one another as seen in the two seasons of Da Capo. Feel free to ship them if you support them like me, if not then that is fine!
Naoki Kuzumi + Honami Fujieda (Hani Hani: Operation Sanctuary/Tsuki wa Higahi ni Hi was Nishi ni)- This is a very underrated romance harem anime with a great ending. Naoki has lost is parents and memory in an accident and since then, his childhood friend, Honami has taken care of him. Of all the love interests, I believe Honami deserved to be with Naoki the most. Mikoto was the focus of the story but she looked to Naoki as more of a brother. Naoki and Honami marry in the end which to me is one of the best case ending scenarios.
Haruhiko Amami + Riko Fukamine (Gift Eternal Rainbow)- This is a very underrated romance harem anime and it got 5 stars from me. Like I've mentioned before, I usually don't support incest relationships but Haruhiko and Riko aren't blood-related and they're brother and sister only in their name. Haruhiko and Riko were very close as children until Riko sadly departs when Haruhiko's dad can no longer support them both. She eventually returns to be reunited with Haruhiko. They show their strong feelings for each other and how close they are. It actually makes sense why Haruhiko ends up with Riko in the end and not Kirino, his childhood friend. I think Haruhiko and Riko deserve more attention and fame and if you watch the anime, you will understand why the end up together.
Mamoru Yoshimura + Ayako Takasu (Venus to Mamoru/Mamoru Kun ni Megami no Shokufuko wo!)- I loved this magical romantic comedy anime. Mamoru is a very short 16-year-old who is asked out by an older tall girl Ayako on his first day of attending a prestigious school. I love it because Mamoru a short boy gets a beautiful popular girl at the top of her class. He's one lucky guy! Mamoru and Ayako deserve more attention so please ship them!
Tatsuya Asagiri + Feena Fam Earthlight (Brighter than the Dawning Blue/Yoake Mae yori Ruriiro na: Crescent Love)- This is such an underrated anime with one of the greatest endings, therefore it got 5 stars from me. Feena is the Lunar Princess of the Moon while Tatsuya is an Earthling school boy. It's a story of star-crossed lovers and while it is kind of cliche (and some people complain about it), it's a good type of cliche that I like. Tatsuya and Feena do not let anything stop them or get in the way because of how long their love for each other is. It is seen several times throughout the story and this is a great theme for romance anime. Tatsuya and Feena get married bringing peace between the Earth and Moon, making this one of the best endings I've watched.
Firiel Dee + Roux Liskin (The Good Witch of the West/Nishi no Yoki Majo: Astraea Testament)- This is a very underrated anime. This is the kind of love story I would never get tired of watching. Firiel is a girl of royal blood, and Roux is her younger childhood friend. Firiel initially sees Roux as a friend or younger brother but they both show romantic feelings for each other pretty early in the anime and it is consistent throughout the story. There are lots of kiss scenes too! (Like 7 or 8) Firiel is faced with the decision of living a life of royalty or a simple life with the one she loves. Firiel decides to live a happy life with Roux, the one she loves, and in a place she loves, which made a great ending to this anime.
Other Wedding Peach Couples (Please see Magical Girl Couples)
Kenji Tomosaka + Nanami Konoe (Lamune)- I thought that this was a very underrated romance slice of life anime. Kenji and Nanami are childhood friends who are very close to one another but are too shy to make advancements in their relationship. As they spend time together and with everything they go through brings them closer and it is obvious they love each other. The ending packs a punch showing how much Nanami is lost and lonely without Kenji by her side. But Kenji pulls through and survives his ordeal and they are able to continue their relationship.
Ryuji Kisaragi + Rose (Dragon Crisis!)- A very underrated romance fantasy anime. It is clear Rose loves Ryuji being attached to him by his side almost all the time. Ryuji goes to great lengths for Rose to keep her safe and happy. Some don't like Rose but I like her and think she's adorable. Ok, I admit again, it's because Ryuji looks like me and you probably know the rest! Rie Kugimiya (the tsundere queen) who voiced Taiga in Toradora also voices Rose and the main character's name is also Ryuji. Anyway these two are an adorable couple showing how far they will go for one another. If you like them, feel free to ship them! If not, that's fine!

Takeshi Hachuu + Annabelle "Angel" Ahrimo- Takeshi is the main character so these two are the OTP of the anime. Takeshi is a 16 year old reptile/snake yokai who is mostly introverted, mature, smart, selfless, strong-willed, and protective (A combination of Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games and Robin from Teen Titans) and Angel is a 16 year old cat yokai who is very kind, friendly, sweet, selfless, intelligent, and popular in school. Angel makes friends with Takeshi as she feels sorry for him seeing him alone. Takeshi and Angel share their secrets and feelings for one another despite that Reptiles and Cats are supposed to be enemies. Both come to terms with how to accept their identies and fate. Takeshi had suffered the death of his father and years of discrimination while Angel always thought she was the only one. They show how much they deeply and truly care about each other and are always there for one another throughout the story. Angel is willing to stand up for Takeshi and is really supportive of him. Both cannot bear to see the other one sad or hurt. To Angel Takeshi's happiness is her happiness and to Takeshi, Angel's happiness is his happiness. Takeshi is not afraid to to protect Angel or anyone else he loves even if it means the cost his own life. Takeshi comes to terms and realizes it's the first time since his father's death that he hasn't felt sad, lonely, or depressed and is happy and stronger with Angel by his side. With every challenge and obstacle they face, Takeshi and Angel only get stronger together. Takeshi strives to fulfill his father's dying wish and Angel helps him every step of the way.
Taro Hachuu + Nina Moriko- While Takeshi and Angel are the OTP, Taro and Nina are a very close second. Taro, age 14, younger brother of Takeshi who is also a reptilian/snake yokai. He is initially short-tempered and vengeful. Nina, age 14, is Taro's childhood friend and a owl yokai of Russian and Japanese decent and is spunky and vein, yet caring as well. And yes she is a tsundere too! They stay by each others side despite that Reptiles and Owls are supposed to be enemies. At first, they argue a lot and try to hide their feelings but realize how much they really mean to each other and need each other and care about one another. Nina has suffered the loss of both her parents and Taro suffered through the death of his father. Both want to fulfill what their parents wishes and realize that they are no longer sad, lonely, or depressed, and are happy and stronger by each other's side. Much like many couples, Taro and Nina cannot bear to see the other one hurt or sad and are brought joy by the other's happiness. They face many obstacles and challenges in their relationship but always come out stronger than before.
Fahru Hachuu + Ren Hachuu- Ren and Fahru are the mother and father of Takeshi and Taro. Fahru is a reptilian/snake yoaki, while Ren is an ordinary human. These two are kind of star-crossed lovers. Their parents each accepted each other while society didn't. The fact that a reptilian and ordinary human are married was more reason they were targeted. Nevertheless they didn't care what others thought. They were deeply in love with each other and went to great lengths for one another and they started a family which made them stronger. Fahru was willing to risk anything for his family and finally lost his life protecting those he loved the most. Ren strives to fulfill her promise and Fahru's dying wish and continues to raise her two boys as a single mother well.
Masami Kobayashi Rival- Of course we can't have love stories without some rivals. Masami Kobayashi, age 15, is the cousin and childhood friend of Takeshi and Taro, and a friend/rival to Angel and Nina. Masami is an ordinary human being on Ren's side of the family but is also quite a warrior and fighter herself, being skilled with weapons and martial arts. Masami is willing to help the yokai gain freedom and lessen the misunderstandings of them. Initially she seems like a flirt but Masami secretly harbor's for both Takeshi and Taro. Takeshi and Taro both initially consider Masami a friend and cousin but do have strong feeling for her later. Taro is split between Nina and Masami. Masami's willing to protect and defend her allies to the end and cares deeply for Taro, Takeshi, even Nina and Angel as well as all her friends and family.
Chad Callahan Rival- Chad is popular exchange student from England who's secretly a werewolf. As a typical "pretty boy" he's tall, good looking, smart, muscular, athletic, and fit with nice blonde hair and blue eyes. He plays soccer, baseball, and basketball. Chad is initially attracted to Angel for her looks and popularity. Angel only thinks of him as a friend and doesn't return his advances. Chad is still also thinking about his girlfriend back home who he eventually returns to. While Takeshi and Chad are rivals for Angel's affections, they stay respectful to each other and usually try to avoid conflict with one another. Taro initially dislikes Chad but begins to have friendly rivalry with him as the story goes on. He helps Angel and her allies a few times and they return the favor.
Hawkwing Rival- Hawkwing is an older friend of Nina who she had a crush on. Yet he betrays her and becomes a villain. Hawkwing feels a connection to Nina and still shows interest but he looks down on Taro and sees him as being inferior to him. Hawkwing becomes a major villain and he and Taro become fiercely enemies as well being enemies with the other main characters. Nina eventually rejects Hawkwing for the sake of doing good, though she has mixed feelings about him. She chooses Taro as she realizes she truly loves him.
Kyofusho + Kumori- The main villain Kyofusho, which means phobia. Kumori is his wife. Kumori is just as evil also joining her husband in his plans. They are loyal to one another and they evan have a son and other family members who are evil as well.
